If I could recommend one blog post to every company in the world that employs people to develop software, this one by Campaign Monitor about their new office might be it. Not only do you get the eye candy of the video, but the blog post provides a lovely breakdown of their design goals, including an office for everyone, and all of the research that backs up those design goals. So many companies are designing spectacular offices, but throw all of their software developers into big rooms, full of noise and interruptions. Campaign Monitor got it right.
This might motivate me to finish my own post about pair programming, and how so many companies have bought into the hype, even though all the studies available prove that pair programming has no advantages for experienced programmers. Stay tuned.
